BIOMAT – Open  Innovation Test Bed for Nano-Enabled Bio-Based PUR Foams and composites

Il Centro di Ricerca POLARIS è coinvolto nel progetto europeo BIOMAT, finanziato dalla commissione europea nel framework Horizon 2020  (Grant Agreement nr.) con lo scopo di  stabilire un Open Innovation Test Bed (BIOMAT-TB) con un Single-Entry Point (SEP). L’obbiettivo di questo progetto è quello di accelerare un bioeconomia Europea sostenibile attraverso lo sviluppo di schiume poliuretaniche (PUR Foams) a base di nanomateriali ed avanzate per diverse aziende (edilizia, costruzione, automobilistica, mobili, tessile).

Qual è il collegamento tra inquinamento e diffusione del COVID19?

Il Centro di Ricerca POLARIS “Salute e Sostenibilità Ambientale” ha dimostrato come l’inquinamento atmosferico può giocare un ruolo cruciale nella trasmissione del virus SARS-CoV-2 e nella conseguente gravità della malattia COVID-19. Lo studio, che è stato recentemente pubblicato sulla rivista Environment International, apre la strada ad una maggiore comprensione di come il particolato atmosferico possa influenzare e facilitare la possibilità di contrarre malattie respiratorie trasmissibili da virus o batteri e fornisce informazioni fondamentali per comprendere come la popolazione risponda alla stessa minaccia a seconda della qualità dell’ambiente in cui vive.
